In Association with Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture, HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity

As celebration and also to continue with their kun-noh creative exchange attempt at the Japan Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010, Mr. Makoto Sato and Mr Danny Yung co-initiated this research project comprising forums, performance, research, and workshops on noh and kun. By bringing together top performers, directors, scholars, critics, arts administrators and emerging artists from Tokyo, Nanjing and Hong Kong, we hope to search for the way forward for these two ancient Asian art forms and to build a platform for a long term HK-Nanjing-Tokyo cultural dialogue.

The event will be held from Jun 2 – 3 at the Multimedia Theatre of Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. Honorable guests include Makoto Sato of Za-Koenji Public Theatre, noh theatre masters Kanji Shimizu and Takao Mishimura of Tessen-Kai, kunju master Ke Jun of Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Kun Opera Theatre, Mikio Takemoto of Waseda University, Yusaku Imamura of Tokyo Wonder Site, Tadashi Uchino of Tokyo University, Zhou Long of National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, Zhou Xiao of Kun Opera Museum of China, Joseph Lam of Michigan University and Zhang Longxi of City University of Hong Kong.
