This series has metamorphosed itself into 9 different versions in the past, spanning nearly 30 years. It has set foot in Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo and Toga. This year marks the centenary of China’s 1911 Revolution and Zuni is also presenting the 10th Year of One Hundred Years of Solitude – The Cultural Revolution. Director Danny Yung is using culture and revolution as a starting point to take a look at all the big and small revolutions which took place in North Africa, the Middle East, China and Singapore recently. He will collaborate with avant-garde artists from Singapore and Hong Kong and a Kun-Peking opera artist from Suzhou, and examine the interactive relationship among individuals, the public and leaders; organisations, the government and the country; people, cultures and revolutions. At the same time, Danny Yung also tries to break free again from the narrative constraints, and lead the audience to read the book and watch the drama from a brand new perspective, to restore the theatre to its pure fundamentals.
