Synopsis

First a soldier, forever the same, guarding. Then a worker, his responsibility is to clear the square. He does his job. He hands over this square, over to the performers. I sit here, my soul stands over there. More than half of a century in between. I gaze at him, I gaze at his gazing forward. I gaze forward. Deep inside, you ask me. Have I asked myself? Waiting in anticipation? Are you waiting? Are you still waiting? The soul squatting inside, he plays the farmer, Glued to the ground, waiting.

Void space with no soul. Deep inside: Singsong, dancing, happy and gay. Sunshine, music, lessons, flowers everywhere. Teachers, piano, children, please sing after me. They are sitting there, restlessly. The square needs guarding. The stage needs guarding. Gradually, four persons come out. Striking a pose, taking a post. Gradually, four persons come out, turn. Out of trust, let their backs face you. Gradually four persons come out. Becoming a routine, a bore. A mirror, a compressed shouting, A window, a line of criminals. A wall, an execution, an observation. Gradually four persons come out...
 

We learnt two Chinese Steps, the Farmers Dance. And the Zhong Zhi Wu - Loyalty to the Chairman. Stretching more than half of a century. Danced by billions of Chinese people. These are dances of the movements. Dances to promote movements. Loyalty to the Chinese movements. Gradually, four persons come out. One of them retreats, he stands there. Gradually, he starts to dance. He dances and dances and keep dancing. He can no longer stop the movement. He is surprised at his lower limbs' flexibility.
